So good.

I slept until 7:30. After three days of 5:30 am, it was wonderful.

A satisfying breakfast on "the front porch" with enough time to relax, see the neighbor water her garden, eat a bowl of cereal and some fruit, then get my lunch ready for work. Not a bit of rush. Even loaded my iPod with some Muddy Waters for later in the day. An extra special musical treat.

A message from my very old dear friend Neal W with nice things like music we both like, visits to family I know, concerts with his wife, a job that fits him that he enjoys, and, especially, an extra bit of inspiration about his Grandma. Ann Westrup whom I've admired for her active lifestyle for as long as I can remember. She, my across the street neighbor, I watched plant and maintain yards of gardens, shovel heaps of snow, drive with her head barely reaching over the steering wheel as she aged and I grew up. Neal said, "Grandma in Winsted still of course. She's 95 now! And the healthiest 95-year-old I know, for sure. She still gets around and drives and all of that." I was pleasantly surprised at her age. I hope to be so full of life at that stage of my own life. Very inspiring and admirable. Hearing from Neal in itself was so pleasant. He and his sister and family are a part of who I am, I've known them for so long and had so many memories with them from my childhood. It was comforting and fulfilling to reconnect.

Cloud Cult. Pretty Voice on the radio to start the drive. Beautiful. Love it.

And then I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li

which sticks and plays in my head over and over.

Arrive. Settle in. Email. Story from Mother to daughters. Boiling water. Carrot, egg, coffee beans. Silence during activity. Boiling water is adversity. Will you be soft and weak, appear unchanged but hard inside, or remain firm and change that which surrounds you?

A pleasant horoscope to add a little fun and curiosity...

Your daily horoscope

If you've ever felt like putting the love you feel into a poem, song or theatrical work, you've felt the very same impulse as did Shakespeare himself. Turning feeling into art is a specialty of Venus, and when she's transiting Leo — as she will be between now and August 21 — it is practically impossible to hold back the expression from an audience.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You intend to have more love in your life, and that intention is ringing across the universe now. You will soon be answered by love in many forms, including platonic, familial and romantic.

Work was swell. Fairly quiet day. A nice lunch on the back patio in the warm sunshine. A brief visit with an acquaintance. Muddy Waters, Miles Davis, and Andrew Bird kept me company, with a little Pandora mix to go with Mr. Bird.

A visit from a co-workers kids. A handsome, good man. Appears to be a great husband and father. Lovely wife and children.

Fun conversations with co-worker self-proclaimed'new guy'. A riot. A phenomenal guy.

Easy traffic on the drive home. A stop by Ace Hardware for a wire tomato stand, then to Yeti Records. Multiple record players, learned what I needed to know from an incredibly handsome, helpful young man with a strong taste for the emotion-evoking sound of Miles Davis, a fine appreciation of independent stores, history, searching and nostalgia. Here, meet Mrs. Coltrane, a harpist with a beautiful sound. He played it for me. Incredibly intense emotions came over me as the bluesy jazz penetrated my soul, flipping through records. Desiderata popped out at me again, a poem that found me when I was working at MTS the summer between high school and college that hung on my walls for years. Go placidly amongst the noise and haste...

Beautiful sunshine and comfortable warmth all around me, I feel my cheeks and mouth smile with happiness as I step outside the store.

Drive.
The young man from Falafel King on the corner of Lake and Lyndale. He'd served friends and I another time and shared his story-an aspiring doctor who looks up to his Dr. brother. Spirited and pleasant. Confident, driven, and well-grounded. His handsome older brother possibly the one to give me the head nod from his car? A smile before the light turns green. How handsome. What fun.

Mmmmmmm. Leftover green curry from a good Wednesday dinner at Chang Mai Thai with lovely friends. Coconut milk, tofu, vegetables, rice.

Nice long walk with my roommate along the Lakes as the sun settles into the horizon. A handsome young man with his parents stops at the corner across the walk. Greek, perhaps? Thoughtful. As we cross, change of mind, turn around, stroll ahead, gently places his hand on the back of his mother's neck with affection. Grounded, proud, honorable. The senses I receive. We follow, bypass. Father grasps his own hands.

Busy Hennepin Avenue. Magers & Quinn. Shelves outside. Woodstock book. Bob Dylan photos. I didn't bring any money. Will you...Will we hold it? Sure, what's your name? Heidi. Thank you. You're welcome. Have a good night. You, too. Thanks. Bye.

Home. Hot. Rest. Sit. School, stumped. Science, cells, division, mitosis, process. Experiments. Learning. A foundation of life. Common behaviors at profound levels. INteresting!

Cool shower. Clean teeth. Pajamas. Recollect. Type.

Fan. Cool comforting refreshing breeze. Deep breath. Stretch. Yawn. Deep breath.

So good.

Anyone Else But You

I saw the movie Juno for the first time this winter when the snow kept me either inside or in snowpants digging out my car for weekends on end. Keeping me from love, life, and much of the outside world beyond a few blocks from my apartment at the time, this movie was a little bit of sunshine. This song, a new favorite. [The video image is poor, but the other videos available didn't do it justice.]

Michael Cera and Ellen Page, Juno

Now, a beautiful summer day, snow a faint memory of the past, and a fun little heartfelt song before heading off to a BBQ under the clear blue sky and sunshine with good company...
